St. John’s girls capture WCAC cross-country crown

Under first-year head coach Desmond Dunham, the St. John’s girls cross-country team captured the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference team crown by nipping Bishop Ireton by five points — 56-61, with the lower score prevailing — and had sophomore runner Cady Hyde win the meet overall on Saturday at Bull Run in Manassas, Va.

The Cadets’ other top runners were junior Anna Cestari, who took fourth; junior Anne Hagerty, who grabbed 16th; freshman Maggie D’Antonio, 17th place; and senior Sophie DiBiase, 18th place.
