January is membership month for the association. At the December meeting, a new dues structure was approved, moving from household to individual memberships. The neighborhood group is hoping to increase its numbers from the 262 households in 2017 and gain new information about its membership base in 2018.
An individual membership will now be $20. For any other adults in the person’s household, the dues will be only $10. Dues cover events such as the potluck, the yard sale, the garden tour, the picnic, the fall and spring plantings, and the Halloween parade. The association also provides quarterly newsletters, a budding youth board, an active planning, zoning and economic development committee, and opportunities for service.
Dues may be paid at shepherdpark.org or at the annual potluck from 5 to 7 p.m. Jan. 28 at Northminster Presbyterian Church, Kalmia Road and Alaska Avenue NW. Fill out your postcard invitation with your information, write your check to SPCA or pay cash (exact change, please), and enjoy an evening of food and fun with your community. Remember to bring your best homemade or bought entrees, salads, veggies or desserts to share. Childcare will be available. Don’t forget your non-perishable food items for Shepherd’s Table.
