Shepherd Park Citizens Association: Feb. 14, 2018

Shepherd Elementary School is located at 7800 14th St. NW. (Brian Kapur/The Current/September 2016)

At the Wilson Building on Feb. 8, Mark Pattison was recognized for his community service at D.C. Council member Anita Bonds’ Third Annual Community Cornerstones Recognition Ceremony.

Pattison has been an active member of the Shepherd Park community since his arrival with his wife, Judith McCullough, and his daughter, Cyntia. Pattison served several years as PTA president at Shepherd Elementary School, spearheading a number of new activities and increasing parent participation. He also took leadership for the neighborhood’s Halloween Parade and the trick-or-treat lists. When major renovations for Shepherd Elementary School were announced, Pattison joined the parent/community advisory committee. He has also served as president of the Friends of the Juanita E. Thornton/Shepherd Park Library and as president of the Shepherd Park Citizens Association. He has been a constant cheerleader for Shepherd Park and we thank him.

Congratulations to Chandler Brossard, who presented her project, “Feminine Hygiene Products for Homeless Women,” as part of the requirements for her Girl Scout Gold Award. Shepherd Park is proud to recognize one of its younger members in her role as a change agent.
