Select public libraries to be open on some holidays

The Georgetown Library is located at 3260 R St. NW. (Brian Kapur/The Current/February 2015)

Using funds allocated by the city’s fiscal year 2018 budget, one public library branch per ward will be open on five holidays: Columbus Day, Veterans Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents Day and D.C. Emancipation Day.

The branches slated to remain open are Mount Pleasant, Georgetown, Tenley-Friendship, Petworth, Woodridge, Watha T. Daniel/Shaw, Dorothy I. Height/Benning and Anacostia. These locations were chosen based on available transit options and services, according to a news release.
