A Northwest man died last week after crashing his motorcycle on the 4800 block of Arkansas Avenue NW, according to a Metropolitan Police Department news release.

Anderson Alberto Flores-Flores, 23, was traveling northeast on a 2003 Yamaha SR6 at about 2:30 a.m. Oct. 23 when he crossed into the oncoming lane and then went over a curb, police said. He fell from the bike and struck a fire hydrant, and was pronounced dead at the scene.

“The preliminary investigation suggests that the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed and lost control,” the release states.
