Tenleytown, American University Park

At the commission’s Nov. 9 meeting:

commissioners provided a $1,630 grant to Tenleytown Main Street for its weeklong Tenley WinterFest event, which will run from Nov. 24 to Dec. 2.

commissioners took no action on liquor license renewal applications for World Market, Rodman’s, Wagshal’s and Whole Foods.

commissioners opposed an application to designate the Pepco substation at 5210 Wisconsin Ave. NW as a historic landmark, arguing that the property is visually unappealing, that the building has been modified since its erection in 1940, and that this status would impede plans to upgrade equipment at the facility.

Georgetown Day School discussed its plans to bring its lower/middle school to 4200 Davenport St. NW, alongside its high school. The change would increase the school’s local student count from 500 to 1,500. Representatives presented a modified traffic management plan designed to mitigate potential impacts. ANC 3E will hold a special meeting to review the proposal Nov. 20.

representatives from Valor Development presented updated plans for its mixed-use redevelopment of the former Superfresh store at 48th and Yuma streets NW.

The commission will hold a special meeting to consider a Board of Zoning Adjustment application regarding Georgetown Day School’s proposed expansion. The meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 20, in Room NT07, Washington College of Law, American University, 4300 Nebraska Ave. NW.
