Fair Chance really spread its swings to fête its annual Butterfly Bash at Washington National Cathedral on Friday, October 19. The non-profit’s signature annual event raises funds and honors leaders committed to improving the lives of children and youth. But it outdid itself filling the cavernous National Cathedral for its 2018 event.
This year’s anticipated event recognized Carlos M. Gutierrez, former U.S. Secretary of Commerce, for his philanthropic and advocacy work as co-founder of TheDream.US.
Fair Chance supports a variety of community-based nonprofits, which achieved life-changing results for children and youth living in poverty.
NBC4 TODAY morning anchor Eun Yang emceed the ceremony, welcoming over 700 guests and more than 50 corporate sponsors. A spirited text pledge fundraising competition in the midst of the event was remarkably riveting… and raised close to an additional $120,000 for the non-profit’s efforts!
Co-chaired by Elisabeth Cohen, Donnell Kearney & Scott Provinse, the event was attended by such notables as Cathy Merrill Williams, Suzanne Mehlhouse Adler, Atila Omer, Erika Sheridan and Dr. Lee Ann De Reus.
Since 2002, Fair Chance has engaged more than 100 nonprofits and reached 80,000 children, youth, and families in D.C.
