The Chevy Chase branch library at 5625 Connecticut Ave. NW is offering several enrichment programs throughout the summer.
The Summer Reading Program continues through Aug. 31 with participants of all age groups eligible to win prizes from the Washington Nationals and Chipotle, among others. Register at dclibrary.org/summerreading.
The “Marvelous Movie Mondays” series features free showings at 2 and 6:30 p.m. Upcoming offerings include: “La La Land,” July 24; “Stand by Me,” July 31; “The Man in the Moon,” Aug. 7; “Passengers,” Aug. 14; “Love and Death,” Aug. 21, and “October Sky,” Aug. 28.
On Tuesday, July 25, at 2 p.m., the Around the World Book Club will discuss David Satter’s “The Less You Know, the Better You Sleep: Russia’s Road to Terror and Dictatorship Under Yeltsin and Putin.”
“Mad Science: Super Structures” will be held on Monday, July 24, at 4 p.m. (for ages 8 and older).
On Friday, Aug. 11, at 10 a.m., “123 Andrés” will take children and adults on a musical journey through the Americas while they learn about music, language and culture. The program will be in Spanish and English.
Weekly children’s programs continue, including Baby Lap Time, Toddler Story Time, Wonderful Ones, Family Craft Night, Preschool Story Time, Kids Chess Club, and Bilingual Family Story Time. For details, visit dclibrary.org/chevychase.
FOLio, the used-book store run by Friends of the Chevy Chase Library, is open Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the second floor. There are wonderful used books at bargain prices, and a great selection of CDs (classical and pop) and DVDs. On Saturday, Aug. 5, Friends of the Library members will get a 50 percent discount on all purchases. Everything in the shop — all 7,000 items — is priced at a fraction of the original cost.
