Two global charter schools — D.C. International and Latin American Montessori Bilingual — celebrated their new locations Sept. 21 with an official ribbon cutting as the first public building at The Parks at Walter Reed.

“Our effort to bring Walter Reed back under District control has been years in the making, and today I am honored to celebrate its return with the students and staff of DCI and LAMB,” Mayor Muriel Bowser said at the ceremony.

“With DCI and LAMB’s focus on global education, we are truly bringing the world to the students and families of Ward 4,” Ward 4 D.C. Council member Brandon Todd said at the event.

The Parks at Walter Reed, a mixed-use development project at the former Army Medical Center campus, will be constructed over the next 10 to 15 years with a variety of residential, commercial and public components.
